Arpan 2019, our annual Dance and Music celebration is around 8 months away. Over the last several months , amidst the daily rounds of class, workshop etc. the mind kept returning to the little seeds of ideas for dance pieces for all the Aakriti students at various levels. A few words of poetry caught during a rushed conversation… a stray tune of a forgotten song …. a quick glimpse of a painting seen somewhere … well known music compositions… plant little seeds of creative flights, in ones head. The thoughts take shape and gather volume till they finally snowball into dance pieces, as we embark on the music recording sessions in Kusum Studio in South Kolkata this August. 10 days …. 10 hours a day … a bunch of world class musicians… breathing life into 10 musical instruments, each with its own story and history… create the soundtrack for Arpan 2019… … A soulful tapestry of melody, poetry, emotions and rhythm … to be completed by the dance phrases of the young Aakriti dancers as they come together for Arpan 2019.
