About Aakriti Foundation
Aakriti Foundation was founded by Sushmita Ghosh in 1998 during her 12 years work in the UK, as Kathak Dancer, Mentor and Choreographer. During her work in Dance Training, Education and Community with various artists and organisations in the UK, Sushmita felt that the ethos of Indian Arts has a vital and global role to play in enriching human life.
Aakriti Dance Foundation started as a platform for nurturing, creating and promoting art and artists, inspired by a firm belief in the inherent unity of all arts. Aakriti shifted its main base to New Delhi in 2005.The belief in the essential unity of arts inspires all that happens at Aakriti Foundation. Our regular monthly Baithak “Milestones”, “Tasmai” – the annual Festival, as well as the fun filled regular classes in Gurgaon, are expressions of this unity.
Aakriti Foundation is a platform for learning, sharing and growing, through the medium of performing arts driven by a firm belief in the innate link between all streams of knowledge and creative expression
Aakriti Foundation holds regular classes in Kathak Dance, Tabla and Hindustani Gayan (Vocal music), besides workshops, Baithaks (in-house small scale concerts) and large scale Music and Dance Festivals.
Through all its ventures, Aakriti Foundation aims to:
- Promote the practice, awareness and appreciation of Indian Classical Arts amongst all
- Spot and nurture talent and creativity amongst youth
- Provide a platform for performance for artists at various stages of their art journey
- Provide appropriate help and support to the deserving and committed learners as well as to the artists past their prime
- Establish the training process of performing and visual arts as an essential part of a child’s education in today’s world
